Speaking about the ASF at Microsoft Build 2020

I’m very happy to have received the invitation from Marco D’Angelo to introduce the Apache Software Foundation at Microsoft Build 2020.

This year the entire conference was held remotely online and my contribution was asked for the italian Community of Microsoft developers. The main goal for me was to explain how the ASF works and which are the initial steps to understand the mechanisms behind the Apache Community.

So I tried to describe and summarize the most important informations about the Foundation and the Apache Way. Every time it’s tricky and at the same time funny to accomplish this hard job, especially when you have to deliver a Lightning Talk format: less then 10 minutes!

My talk was inside the main session titled Connect with Microsoft Italy and your local dev community in the track Open Source projects with Apache and CNCF moderated by Mario Cavaldesi.

It was also really great to work with one of my former colleagues Alessio Biancalana, he shared his personal (and funny!) experience on becoming an Apache Committer of CouchDB. Finally Paolo Patierno talked about CNCF introducing the amazing Strimzi project based on Apache Kafka and Kubernetes.

Below you find the entire video starting from our track but I suggest to also take a look at the previous topics absolutely interesting. I have to confess, after seeing the entire video, that the content of all tracks was impressive and all the speakers gave outstanding contributions in terms of clarification about how it works each community.

I would like to thank Marco D’Angelo and all the Microsoft Staff for arranging this local community session that gave us the opportunity to present the ASF and all the other projects in italian language!
